Q Value: 25 Points Assignment Overview (Reminder) This assignment requires a series of parts/steps leading up to the delivery of your presentation, and you will complete only one part at a time. In Part 1 you will select a concept or theory from this class that helps you better understand the communication issues in a specific relationship and find a research study about the theory/concept you chose. In Part 2 you will insert the information you found into a research presentation outline, using an outline template provided by me. In Part 3 you will record your presentation and two of your peers will evaluate it- you will also evaluate two peers. In Part 4 you will submit your final 3-5 minute recorded presentation. As stated above, this assignment requires a series of steps, and you will complete only one step per week, leading up to the delivery of your presentation. Draft your presentation according to the Research Presentation Outline Template below. Save a copy for your own backup, then paste your work here and submit. Attention getter: Grab audience’s attention 2. Name: State your name(s) and briefly introduce the topic 3. Thesis statement: State your "big idea" 4. Preview: Tell us the three things you'll cover in this presentation Main Point 1: Research Summary 1. Article description: Tell us the title of your article and what it was about. Define any terms we need to know in order to understand it. 2. Relevance: What topic from our course does it relate to or expand upon? State the chapter and the specific name of the concept or theory. Define it in one sentence to refresh our memory. Main Point 2: Research Findings 1. Hypotheses: What were the researchers’ hypotheses or research questions? WARNING: if you cannot find any Hypotheses or Research Questions in your article then it is NOT a research study and does not qualify for this assignment, which will earn you a zero. The hypotheses or research questions will be stated in the first half of your article, after the introductory section, using the identifier “H” or “RQ.” 2. Findings: What were the researchers’ findings? Answer each of their questions (hypotheses) with what they found (HINT: in the discussion section of the article) Main Point 3: Application 1. Relationship: Which interpersonal relationship did you choose? Who is the relationship with and what is the communication issue or problem?
